Do Eternal Heaven and Hell Exist?

There are Assurances from the Orthodoxy

image
This is a topic I first wrote about online many years ago, on my first website. Actually it was before there was an internet, in 1990. I operated Terra Nova BBS (bulletion board service as they called them, then).
But so much for the past. Now down to the nitty gritty of heaven and hell. Do they exist or not? If you tune in to the Sunday morning religious programming on TV, you will hear in no uncertain terms that they do. And for centuries, the faithful have been hearing that they do. The vast orthodox Christian machine has been built on the assurance that they do. And not only Christian. Other religions have their versions of heaven and hell waiting for the faithful (and less than faithful).
Before creation, God is One. Ideas of "before" or any sort of time or space words associated with God place limitations upon God. They are concepts of God, not God. The map is not the territory. So going along with another "idea" which is that "heaven" and "hell" are ultimately "ideas" also, and thus limitations upon the reality of God and Soul.
It can be said that "heaven and hell" are as eternal as the "idea of eternal" which is another concept. The reality to be considered, understood and realized is God and Soul. Worrying about where one will be spending time after this "Soul projected ego life on earth" is not useful, particularly. Any good karma put in the Karmic Bank of God, will get one extra time in the heaven worlds of higher vibrational light. More light, better music, etc. More subtle colors, sounds, everything a heaven world should be. This is what the great Yogis and Master of India tell us, and have been telling us for thousands of years.

Beautiful Dreams of Heaven

Unfortunately, one little problem ... if you consider it a problem. It is not liberation of the Soul from the "wheel of karma." The round of soul projected ego lives on earth continues unabated, until ... that is another story, and not an easy story to unwind. But for certain, the time spent in the heaven worlds, whichever "mansion" is prepared for you is not eternal, because the heaven "worlds" are still part of the creation. And the creation is the relative world, even in the higher realms. It is in flux, always changing. And once your good karma bank account is used up, the Soul projects another ego life to work out more of the unfinished business here in the physical world.
Of course, if you did not spend too much time working on yourself, doing the "good" or soul advancing activies, but instead spent a lot of time advancing dark activities (I think we all know what sorts of things those are ...) the time spent in the "between physical lifetimes could be spent in one of the lower astral worlds. This is what the religions of the world call "hell." But it has become lumped into the one word, and given an eternal quantity, just as heaven has been given an eternal quantity.

Maybe the Catholics are On to Something

Or, perhaps things are not so easily explained. The Catholic religion has the idea of purgatory, where the souls can go after death. Prayer and Intercession (well, prayer, too) can then move them on to Heaven. I believe that this a variation of the astral world "idea" in which souls "live" their in their astral bodies until it is time to take on a new physical body once again.
There, I have created a "metaphysical" essay. The world is duality, split into two, so to speak. Opposites. And the heaven and hell duality is part of it. But all of the duality is part of the world of God's creation. It is not the focus of the reality of:

God and Soul

And as I said in my essay so many years ago on Terrra Nova BBS, it all boils down to a simple understanding of me. If I died and went to heaven, giving heaven a good length of time so that I do not sound ungrateful to God in any way; eventually after maybe one million years of living in bliss with God and the saints, I would have a thought. Maybe the unsaved down in hell, suffering unimaginable torment for all this million years that I have been in heaven could be forgiven and released. If God is love, well, the hell math does not add up for me.
Because even as the rather ordinary fellow I was down on earth, not particularly unselfish, perhaps, but also not particularly selfish, I eventually could not deal with looking the other way, pretending I was okay with the suffereing of billions in hell for billions of years. Just because they did not say the magic words during their one and only chance - their one and only life (according to some religions) to do the right things and get into the gates of Heaven - this would eventually drive me insane.
This is sentencing someone to an absolute sentence for a relative crime. And of course I do not have enough pages to try to answer the question "What about all the souls who lived before "Jesus" or whomever the savior happens to be? And what about the possible aliens on other planets? (we should not get into that subject of whether they do exist or not ... I am trying to make a point). So I realized so many years ago, that for me, if there is an eternal hell, I will eventually be experiencing it, too!
Sooner or later, my own consciousness would begin to experience the pain of those souls stuck in that worse than horrible place. I could never abide the existence of such an eternal black hole, no matter how terrible their crimes here on earth. And enough about that!

One's time is truly best spent, spiritually, in contemplation of:

God and Soul
