Reality that We are a Part of Does Not Pass Away
While it is true that all things of this world are in flux, being created, eventually passing away, there is a Divine Reality that transcends the world of flux, and we are a part of that reality. Though we are “created” by God, the reality of us does not pass away, only the appearances of our earthly self projections do. It is important to meditate upon the fundamental reality of God and Soul.
Nothing that happens to us, nothing we do really alters this fundamental reality. IT IS REALITY. The world of apperances is real enough, we can all see that. Of course science tells us that our solid, “real” external world is more than 99% space. So like Toto did in the Wizard of Oz movie, this reality has been exposed. And the big news was really no news at all. The yogis of India had been saying this for thousands of years - the world is composed of vibrations of energy. Maybe not in western “scientific” terms, but it seems that some western scientists have been quoting a few yogis lately, for some reason. Their view of the world is a rather good map of “reality” as far as maps go. Maps are never "THE TERRITORY."
What does this have to do with the question, you are surely asking by now? Quite a lot, actually. If the materialist view of reality is true, then this is it ... no more you, once your heart stops. But if the religious “views” (of course there seem to be many) are fundamentally correct, then there is hope for you after your heart stops. And, to your great great peace of mind, there is much evidence that the fundamental religious view is REALITY.
The Mystery
Is it “provable” by strict scientific method? Well, probably not. Are “you” provable by strict scientific method? How did you get here, to this place, reading this page right here right now? No physics theory, math formula, etc. can fully account for you! Yet here you are. To be fair, no religious view can fully account for you, either. The far distant beginnings and the far distant futures of all remain a mystery. This is why one of my favorite Higher Power concepts is the Lakota Sioux's, Wakan Tanka. As I understand it, Wakan Tanka means, The Mystery. Usually when I start pondering the imponderables, I get to Wakan Tanka. I know Spirit is real. But it is Mysterious for a human brain.
